Today we got up and packed away all our gear without having breakfast because we knew we were passing an amazing bakery. Before we left though we said bye to some bike travellers we had been socialising with at the site. Their names were David and Che. They were going to do Grey Creek Pass which we did yesterday. I don’t envy them going up from the Grey Creek end. It is a vertical off road walk that goes on for miles and miles. The campsite allowed me to use the hose on the bike. It was thick with gravel road.

The ride out of town was lovely and Reds bakery was everything I had dreamed it would be. We had an amazing coffee and homemade Cinnabun. We also bought some cookies for the road

After our pit stop we headed to the ferry to get across the lake. Grey Creek and Crawford Bay are just spectacular. The ferry took us to Balfour on the other side of the lake and that is just as nice.
At the ferry port a number of people came over to chat to us as they always do in the USA and Canada, both countries from my experience is pure kindness and openness. We got chatting to two guys that were gob smacked that we came over Grey Creek Pass, the video below is Dels response.

We started our ride to Nelson and found an amazing lake with a beach. We had to jump on a bit of single track as we took the wrong turning, but it was cool coming out of the opening and seeing paradise.

After we got dried and contour journey we found a road side fruit seller and we stopped to get some cherries. We crossed an impressive bridge to get to Baker Street in Nelson where our hostel was for the night.

When we reached Baker Street we got some supplies from a bike shop and checked in. We did some laundry in the basin had a shower then ventured out for food. We stopped off at one bar for a quick ginger beer then walked about a minute further into this cool Mexican restaurant. We both had tacos and churro to finish.

We have hunted out a beautiful place for breakfast tomorrow. Apparently our route follows a river tomorrow and people had said we will have lots of opportunity for swimming.
