Costa Rica: Pt 8 – Generosity

We left Colorado at about 0800. The accommodation made us a nice breakfast of pinto rice, eggs and tomato. They also made their own honey and we have seen it on stalls as we travelled today. I tried some on our breakfast bread and it was gorgeous.

We had some climbing to do but the views across the sea to the other side of the peninsula we will soon be riding were magnificent.

We had to cross a bridge to get over a very wide river.

We stopped at Soda Anita for some lunch and it was the nicest food I have had in the trip so far. The fish is all caught locally and it was all fresh.

Now the amazing thing about this part of the story is our connection with a family on the table next to us. They could speak English and helped us order and we entered into the normal conversation about our route and each others families. We were enjoying our meal when they came over to the table and said “You don’t need to worry about paying we have covered your meal”. They said that they were happy that we were in Costa Rica and enjoying our trip. That generosity is unbelievable, it made me feel so happy I stood up and gave him a hug. He gave us is telephone and email and said we should contact him if we need assistance with anything.

After leaving the soda we had a bit of single track climbing and descending.

Energy levels were starting to drain even after that lunch and a mini store came just at the right time to get us to our cabina for the night.

Energy getting low

Around £20 for a cabina they are such a great deal.

It even has a pool

It has a stunning restaurant attached to it so we will go there once it has cooled down a bit for a fruit smoothie and maybe some nachos. We are trying to eat larger meals earlier in the day and having a light tea to set us up for the large breakfast. It seems to be working well.

We are getting closer to the beaches, basically in about two days we will pass quite a few beaches each day. We will need to plan which ones we want to spend some time on.
