Costa Rica: Pt 12 – Stunning!

We got up and the parrots were stationary so we had the chance to take some photos and videos of them. They are amazing to see just sat in the trees.

For breakfast we went to the place where we had our evening meal and the food did not disappoint.

There was some beautiful views and steep climbs. The coastal riding has been harder than the mountains. On a mountain climb you just get in a nice easy gear and chug up. The gradients in the most part stay relatively consistent.

On these coastal roads, and seems to be the case on all the routes I have been on, they go up and down and down and up all day long. Some of the gradients can be very steep.

We also saw some more large iguanas.

Then the trip without warning went from rustic and traditional to tourism. Near the end of the route we stopped in one of the bars for a coconut milk, banana and chocolate shake.

Lovely mid ride energy

blue clean white sand beaches. This is what we were expecting from Costa Rican beaches and we have ten more days to enjoy them as we head up the Pacific Coast. They still don’t have people on them though as this is the “rainy” season.

We were a bit too early to check in so we stopped at a lovely restaurant for lunch. Again, we will be coming here for breakfast, it opens at 0730. We will be knocking at the door.

It has a private beach and pool.

We are stopping at Howler Monkey Hotel. Hotel is a bit strong. They are basic and are more like a cabina. It does have a little kitchen area, but you would not feel safe using it 🙂

So we got showered and went back to the restaurant and that is where we are chilling by the pool.

Rachael had a little relax on the swing that overlooks the beach.

On the beach there are hundreds of tiny baby Hermit Crabs. The sand is moving with them, they are so cute.

Little Hermit

We might have some food here in a bit and head off back to our room and dream of breakfast.

Homemade lemonade and mint. Ummmm

Tomorrow we will be at Hermosa.
