This morning we woke up in the garden of our Warmshowers host Randall and Lisa. Randall made us a lovely mug of coffee and we finished off the apple pie for breakfast. Their hospitality was wonderful. The previous night we did a washing load and dry and they made along with Katherine a wonderful feast.

We called at the supermarket before leaving Fernie. In the car park we bumped into some fellow bike travellers that were on their way to Denver in Colorado .

We were on our way to meet Ben, Jen and the gang of children at Surveyor Lake. We travelled along beautiful gravel paths through the mountains. The weather was blue sky and a lovely temperature for cycling.

At one point along the route I saw a dog underneath a pick up. I knew instantly it was my favourite breed of dog. Ever since seeing one in Mad Max, the Australian Cattle Dog. This one was called Didgeridoo and he was gorgeous.

We made it to the lake a bit after lunchtime. We hooked up with the family on the beach where they had SUP boards, fishing gear and inflatables. The kids were having a lovely time all thanks to the preparation and effort of Ben and Jen. I had an amazing sleep in the sun. My own snoring woke me up!

After a good few hours we packed up and headed for ice cream. Back at Ben and Jen’s trailer on the lake we put up our tent then headed down to the lake jetty. Some of the group were happy fishing and others jumping in the cool water. As we sat on the jetty we saw a couple of Osprey dive into the water and come out with their tea. Delta was the only one that caught a fish in our party.
We packed up the jetty and went back to the trailer. Jen made us some vegi burgers and this was greatly appreciated, especially the green salad, tomatoes and hummus as we want to keep up our vitamin intake.
Another lovely unique day, meeting up with family at a picturesque lake, chatting with fellow travellers, mountains, cycling, having cool dog cuddles, ice cream and burgers. What more do you need?
