As we woke and were packing our stuff away Rachael noticed a nice picture of the grass on the other side of the tent.

Today we said goodbye to Ben, Jen and the gang. It was great that The BC Trail passed their trailer so we could see them a final time. It was a bit emotional saying goodbye to everyone. Ben and Jen mentioned when we first got to Canada that they would like a go on the tandem. Jen was busy so Ben had to pilot Rachael. They set off straight away, good tandem skills.

We bought some supplies from the store we also bought a Koocanusa sticker for the bike.

We made our way to Cranbrook. It was miles and miles of gravel and climbing. I don’t think we had any coasting today. I bought a dust/waterproof speaker at the airport but we were reluctant to use it until we knew if we would be disturbing the peace and quiet for people. It is clear that we are the only people on trail, we might pass someone twice a day and that is a quick passing, so we cranked out the speaker. The first song that came around on the shuffle was Rod Stewart, We Are Sailing. We instantly felt great singing along and it definitely helps the miles go by on the really slow gravel.
We rode into a really small town, it did not even have a shop, but it had a lovely little park so we had our lunch under the shelter that had some benches laid out.

We had to tackle a bit more single track but that is easy compared to the gravel.

As we got closer to Cranbrook it got very dark and looked like we were in for a storm but it did not materialise.

Cranbrook is a very large town with lots of industrial complex’s on the outskirts. We are checked into A Days Inn. We have got the bike in the room. It has been nice having a shower after all the dusty gravel.

I am just going to plan our day for tomorrow and see where we are likely to end up.
